WHO

The Hong Kong Hymnos Festival Society (Festival) is a Registered Society and a non-profit organization established in April 2020. The Festival is a trail blazer as it is the first of its kind in Hong Kong. The Festival aims to present a range of hymn music written over time in different formats of choral singing.

WHAT

In 2025, HKHF welcomes prestigious, reputable musicians and choir groups. This year’s festival features two concerts and five HymnFest lecture-concerts in Hong Kong and Hanoi, with invited artists from Paris and Hanoi. The brief called for a comprehensive suite of promotional materials—including the key visual, advertisements, backdrops, and programme booklet—while clearly representing the international collaboration between the two cities.

Visual Idea

Visual Idea

Bringing all elements into a single visual—instrumentation, vibrant colors, and motifs representing both Hong Kong and Hanoi—was challenging, especially since some concepts had no concrete form. I chose the cello, an iconic instrument from the program, as the central medium to unify these elements. Initial client feedback noted that the shape felt too reminiscent of a pipa and lacked a sense of “love,” so we refined the form by incorporating a heart shape at the base. In the end, the client loved the direction and requested a series. I then developed concert posters using the key instrument from each program as the anchor for its visual.
